The Westminster Abbey

The Westminster Abbey in UK was being used as a venue for Royal Weddings for many years now.  Listed below are the following marriage rites conducted at the said place:


  • July 23, 1986  Prince Andrew, Duke of York, second son of Queen Elizabeth II, and Miss Sarah Ferguson
  • November 14, 1973  Princess Anne, only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, and Captain Mark Philipps
  • April 14, 1963  Princess Alexandra of Kent and Angus Ongilvy
  • May 6, 1960  Princess Margaret, second daughter of King George VI, and Anthony Armstrong-Jones (later Earl of Snowdon)
  • November 20, 1947  Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II), elder daughter of King George VI, and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten RN (later Duke of Edinburgh)
  • April 26, 1923  Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), second son of King George V, and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (later become the Queen Mother)
  • November 29, 1924  Prince George, Duke of Kent, son of King George V, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark
  • February 28, 1922  Princess Mary, daughter of King George V, and Viscount Lascelles
  • February 27, 1919  Princess Patricia of Connaught and Commander Alexander Ramsay
  • January 20, 1382  King Richard II of England and Anne of Bohemia
  • July 8, 1290  Margaret of England, daughter of King Edward I, and John II, son of Duke of Brabant
  • April 30, 1290  Joan of Acre, daughter of King Edward I, and 7th Earl of Gluocester
  • April 9, 1269  Edmund of Crouchback, 1st Earl of Leicester and Lancaster, son of King Henry III, and Lady Aveline de Forz
  • November 11, 1100  King Henry I of England and Matilda of Scotland

The Royal Wedding Day

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be on the 29th day of April at exactly 11:00a.m.

The United Kingdom Government has already declared a Royal Bank Holiday for the said date so everybody can really enjoy this festive three day holiday.  By the way, this holiday is only for UK Citizens only, other international readers are not included.

Royal Wedding Route

The wedding route is still yet to be confirmed, but updates will be given as to the final wedding route.

Millions of people is expected to be lining up the wedding route, to include towns and streets that will be holding and organizing street parties, this will surely be a momentous event to remember.

During Princess Diana and Charles' wedding, it has become a world event and their lives together as a couple were being followed even up to the minute details.

The official royal wedding route is to be announced later but it is speculated that the same route as Princess Diana and Charles' wedding will be followed.  Well, whatever the route will be, just be sure that you'll get up early on that great day to have a sure spot in the front line row.

Things You'd Like To Know

By law, if Prince William chose to get married before he was 25, he would need his grandmother's consent, Queen Elizabeth II.  For over 400 years, which dates back to King Henry VIII.

During his school days, Prince William is fondly called by his friends as P-Willy.

At a press conference, Kate said that she would loved to be called Catherine instead of Kate.

At this Royal Wedding, Kate will be the eldest Royal bride ever to walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey.

Their wedding car will be the same wedding car used by Princess Diana during her wedding day.

Paris Hilton is humored to be one of the celebrity guests.

The Prime Minister of Australia is also expected to be a guest of honor during the Royal Wedding.
